Summer Holiday Workshops 2024

A group of young people from across the Southern Tablelands gathered for two full days of critical thinking learning, on 15 & 16 January. It was wonderful to see the students’ engagement and enthusiasm for high-order discussions of real-world issues, playing thinking and speaking games, creating and sharing speeches, and taking part in informal min-debates.

The workshops were held at the Jerrabomberra Community Centre, where our tutors guided the children throughout the two days. Generous funding from the Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council and Braidwood and Bungendore Community Bank gave free access to the day for the students, these organisations showing their vision in backing the Consensus program to help local kids develop their thinking and communication skills.

The students who took part in the workshop and who ranged in age from ten to eighteen, live in different communities across the region, and go to fourteen different schools, mostly in the QPRC LGA but a small number in Goulburn and Canberra. Consensus Education will be running similar events for students in the future.
