Resources

As part of our mission to encourage the development of critical thinking and communication skills in Australian schools, we are proud to provide a variety of best-practice resources that are appropriate for primary and high school thinkers and speakers of all experience levels. Best of all, these are completely free to use in your classrooms.

We are always updating our resources, but our current range includes tips, guides and analysis for both debating and public speaking, as well as critical thinking resources useful for both activities. All resources can be useful for teachers, and we also have dedicated teacher's resources.

Welcome to the Consensus Resource Archive. Here you’ll find our free educational resources for teachers & students.

Resource Archive

Our resources can be used in any order and are organised here under Debating Methods, Debating Topics, Public Speaking, and Critical Thinking. Resources in our Critical Thinking section often refer to both debating and public speaking, so are also useful for those activities.

These categories include general resources for all experience levels, as well as tailored resources for beginner, intermediate and advanced learners, with some resources made for teachers. These feature documents, podcasts and videos identified by our resource types: Consensus Guides (simple learning sheets or detailed documents), Brief Explainers (short podcasts or videos on key concepts), Targeted Topics (topic breakdowns for debating), Talking Themes (topic breakdowns for public speaking), Hot Topics (critical thinking discussions related to public speaking and debating), as well as Plain English Speaking Award Resources.
