We learned how logic can be used and also manipulated. We learnt about spotting fallacies in an everyday argument or debate. We discovered the difference between honest mistakes or deliberate fallacies.

Pearl, Year 6

We learnt about the different types of logical fallacies. The Strawman is when someone states an opinion, and someone else creates illogical conclusions. They are effectively making an imaginary strawman (imitation of original idea) and knocking it down.

Rebecca, Year 6

“One of the topics that I found interesting was the IKEA effect, where people tend to value things that they create rather than purchased items. We looked into an origami example where people were asked to make a complicated origami, and no matter how bad it turned out, people still valued it more than perfect ones given to them. I found the psychology behind it very interesting.”

Saanvi, Year 6

Today we learnt about how change can trigger fear, or fake fear (which is where you over-worry), and then we learnt about the history of when big changes happened; like the train (so fast people believed it was going to rip your guts out), the phone (they thought people would be spying) and then that got me thinking about AI, do people still have big fears for this thing too?

Illya, Year 5
