North Sydney Debating Camp

Consensus was excited to help facilitate this year’s Northern Sydney Debating Camp, at the Collaroy Conference Centre. The three day camp ran from 24-26 September, Week 10 Term 3, with students from years 4-6 attending from over 30 schools in the Northern Sydney region.

The camp was attended by 8 Consensus trainers, who ran a range of fun learning activities, with lessons focused on how to think critically, work collaboratively and speak with confidence, including mini debates, and thinking and speaking games. The camp also included a professional learning session on the Thursday, lead by our Education Officer, James Smith, where teachers discussed debating adjudication best practice.

We’d like to thank the Regional Coordinator, Claire, and all other teachers who attended for their efforts. We’re looking forward to coming back for next year’s camp! (It will run in Week 9 of Term 3.)
